How much should I spend on Google Ads?

When it comes to Google Ads budget there are a few factors we need to consider.

  • What is your actual marketing budget?
  • How aggressively do you want to market?
  • What is the size of the area you are targeting?
  • What services are you advertising?
  • What is your competition spending on Google Ads?
  • And many more…

It is impossible to give you a ballpark at this stage; however, when we have completed our research for your business we can. The good thing about Google Ads is you can increase and decrease your budget. However, we do not recommend going below the minimum budget that we recommend as that would just be a waste. Previous Google Ads campaigns have not yield results for me.

Google Ads brought in just shy of $225 billion (yes, with a B) for Google in 2022.

This means people are spending loads of money on it and a sensible business will only spend money if it has solid returns.

This also means everyone wants a piece of the solid returns which has drastically increased the competition among the businesses to bid for keywords that matter.

In this Wild West, if you run mediocre ads along with a basic eco-system (ads, landing pages, copies, and other assets) then it will not yield the results you expect. The cost will be higher and the conversion rates are low to none.

However, we have managed Google Ads campaigns in New Zealand and Australian markets for the most competitive keywords and businesses. We have not only lowered the cost per click and acquisition but also have increased the conversion.

We have turned Google Ads inside out and experimented with every possible thing to increase conversions and lower costs. Meaning, when you work with us we guarantee you it will improve.

I have a small budget, will it work for me?

It is true that we can even have a daily budget of $1 on Google Ads.

However, we always recommend a minimum daily budget depending on your industry and the services you want to advertise.

There’s a reason for that. We have found out that if we keep the low budget it just goes to waste.

Think numbers when running Google Ads. If $1 gets you 1 click, that means you will get only 1 person visiting your landing page.

Now, if we get a 100% conversion rate then voila, however, in the real world that doesn’t happen.

For clarification purposes, let’s say we spend $10 which brings us 10 visitors. Out of 10, only 5 contact you, and out of 5, you will convert 1 to a paying customer.

In the above example, our Ads conversion rate is 50%, however, the actual paying customer is only 1.

This means we will need to bring in 10 visitors on average to get 1 paying customer. This also means we need to spend more money.

If we keep the budget low, then we will not meet the bare minimum to convert using Google Ads.

So, will it work for you?

Most probably not if you do not have enough budget to meet the minimum requirement.

How soon will I see results?

Google Ads gives instant results, given everything is ready.

Google Ads is not just a matter of signing up for an account and following on-screen instructions.

It requires proper ad copywriting, landing pages, assets, and the proper “funnel”.

To give you an idea, a Google Ads account can be completely set up in 4 weeks (ads, ad copy, assets, landing pages, etc.). Google Ads takes at least 14 days for its learning period. However, as the account is new, there will be numerous major changes that can extend the learning period length.

You will start seeing results from the third month.

This timeframe is shortened if it is a small account and assets are ready.

How do I pay for Google Ads?

When it comes to payment for Google Ads, we are not part of it.

You pay directly to Google.

We will use your credit/debit card, which is stored securely on Google Ads, and they charge you as you meet the threshold.

Google Ads increases your account threshold on every next billing cycle. For clarification purposes, you may be charged $50 when you reach the amount. Then the next charge may be $200 and so on.

You will get to the monthly billing cycle once you reach a specific threshold.
